Most Retrospect 20.0.1 components are Intel-based, requiring Rosetta on Macs with Apple silicon.
Installing Retrospect on macOS 27
Retrospect Console and Engine
- From the Retrospect Downloads page, download Retrospect Backup for Mac (20.0.1.213 or newer), open the zip file and run Install Retrospect.
- If prompted to install Rosetta, click Install. Then run Install Retrospect again.
Retrospect Client
- From the Retrospect Downloads page, download Retrospect Backup Client for Mac (20.0.1.213 or newer), open the zip file. Inside the Mac Client Installer subfolder, run Install Retrospect Client.
- If prompted to install Rosetta, click Install. Then run Install Retrospect Client again.
- Restart the Mac.
Updating a Mac with Retrospect to macOS 27
After updating a Mac to macOS 27, Rosetta needs to be reinstalled before Retrospect can function normally.
- If the Mac has a prior Retrospect version, update the Mac to macOS 27 and then follow the steps in Installing Retrospect on macOS 27.
- If you have installed Retrospect (20.0.1.213 or newer) and then updated the Mac to macOS 27, simply run Install Retrospect or Install Retrospect Client again just to trigger Rosetta installation.
- If prompted to install Rosetta, click Install, then cancel the Retrospect installation and restart the Mac.
- If there is no prompt to install Rosetta, that means Rosetta is already installed and Retrospect can work normally. You can cancel the Retrospect installation.
Upcoming support for Apple silicon
The Retrospect Novus UI 20.0.1.212 already run natively on Apple silicon.
Other Retrospect components will be updated to run natively on Apple silicon (without needing Rosetta) before the macOS 28 release.
