System Requirements for Retrospect Engine 20 for Linux
The Linux Engine is headless and must be managed by Retrospect Console running on macOS.
Supported Operating Systems
- 64-bit (amd64) Ubuntu 18.04 - 24.04 Desktop or Server 
Supported Architectures
- 64-bit Intel/AMD 
System Recommendations
- 1 GB RAM for each concurrent activity; 4 GB RAM minimum 
- 10-15 GB of temporary disk space for each concurrent activity (backup, restore, etc.) 
- Adequate storage for backups on local disks or network shares

Supported Hardware
- Intel processor (64-bit only) with one or more multicore processors 
- For 32-bit client support, please use Retrospect 18.5.3 engine and client.

- Ubuntu 14.04 - 24.04 
- SUSE 11 Enterprise Server 11 SP2 and SP3, 11.4, and 12.2 
Protecting Servers
Backing up server OS clients requires Retrospect Multi Server or other Server edition with available Server Client Licenses.
Note: In a future update, Linux clients running on server-level Linux distributions will be treated as server clients.
