VMWare backup and Independent Disks

When using Retrospect to back up a VMWare server with independent disks, Retrospect may report an error -2620 (VADP failure).

Before Retrospect can back up the VMWare system, you must disable independent disks.

Shut down the Virtual Machine.

Edit the Virtual Machine and for each disk uncheck "Independent".

Click "OK" to apply the change.

Attempt the backup again.

If you require independent disks, you will need to back up the Virtual Machine by installing Retrospect or a Retrospect Client inside the VM for a local or client based backup.
