By default, Retrospect will perform a Fast Catalog rebuild when needed. If directed by technical support, we may recommend performing a Thorough catalog rebuild. This is frequently needed if grooming has failed or we detect a damaged backup data file. Directions for performing a thorough catalog rebuild are below:

Windows

  1. Close Retrospect
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\Retrospect\Retrospect 19.x
  3. Edit the Retro.ini file
  4. Under the [Options] section, add the following line and save the changes:

ForceThoroughRebuild=1

  1. Open Retrospect and start the catalog rebuild again.

Macintosh

  1. Stop the Retrospect Engine inside System Preferences
  2. Go to library/application support/Retrospect
  3. Edit the retro.ini file
  4. Under the [Options] section, add the following line and save the changes:

ForceThoroughRebuild=1

  1. Start the Retrospect Engine in System Preferences
  2. Go to Media Sets>Rebuild and start a catalog rebuild of the media.
