Affected Product: Retrospect 10.0.0 for OS X
This issue only affects Media Sets with AES-128 or AES-256 encryption that have been written to with Retrospect 10.0.0. Other encryption methods are not affected.
To check if you are using AES encryption, look in the Security field in Retrospect’s Media Set summary window. (Click Media Sets in the left sidebar, select a Media Set, click on the Summary tab; if the Security field shows AES128 or AES256, AES encryption is being used for the selected Media Set.)
Description
In Retrospect 10.0.0 for Mac, an unexpected change occurred in how Retrospect generates AES encryption keys. As a result, whenever Retrospect asks for password verification for a Media Set, the encryption key used to encrypt and decrypt data is altered. This prevents Retrospect from reading previous backups (including those created with versions 8.x, 9.x, and possibly 10.0.0).
Please update to Retrospect 10.0.1 for Mac if you are using Retrospect 10.0.0 for Mac. If you had any sets that would have been affected by this issue, contact our
