# Microsoft SQL - Error -1004 (Database Backup/Restore error) during a Retrospect SQL Database Restore

If you get a -1004 error while attempting to restore an SQL database, try going into the Database restore Options and try changing the following options:

```
"Use New Database Name for Restore Database"
"Use Custom path for Restore Database data and log files"
```

Entering a new Database Name and Path will help the SQL API complete the restore. We have found these options most helpful when the original Master database is unavailable.
