If you plan on restoring your encrypted files back to the computer that originally contained the encrypted files, no additional steps are needed to backup the files.

If you plan on restoring these files to a new computer or back to the original computer after re-installing the operating system, you should export the EFS keys prior to backup so they can be imported again on a new computer or after a system reinstall.

EFS keys should be exported by the user from Administrative tools > Local Security settings > Public key policies > Encrypting file system.

Retrospect can backup these keys and restore them so they can be imported on the new computer.
