# CopyESPToDirectory error for XPMdStoreESP

If you see the following error:

[*] T-44: doCopyESPToDirectory: could not export BCD to State folder, sys_err=1, osErrNo=0

[*] T-44: xpmdCopyESPFiles: CopyESPToDirectory failed. err = -1,001

[*] XPMdStoreESP: couldn't copy meta files from client, error -1001 (unknown Windows OS error)

Can't back up System State, error -1001 (unknown Windows OS error)

Please use the following steps to repair the issue:

1. Boot from their Windows installation media.
2. Click on Repair your computer after selecting the language for the installer.
3. Click on Troubleshoot.
4. Click on Advanced Options.
5. Click on Startup Repair.

The startup issue should be fixed, and the next backup should have no errors.
