Steps for clearing barcode information in Retrospect:
- Make sure at least one barcoded tape is in a library slot and there are no tapes in the tape drives. It does not matter whether or not the information displayed for the tape is correct.
- Go to Configure > Devices. In the Properties window for the tape library (Mac User’s can "get info" on the library while Windows user’s can right click on the library and choose "properties"), disable barcode support.
- In the Storage Devices Window, perform a clear loader info operation ("Shift+Eject All" on PC, "Option+Eject All" on Mac), making sure the "Just Clear Barcode Info" box is checked.
- In the Storage Devices Window, perform a clear loader info operation ("Shift+Eject All" on PC, "Option+Eject All" on Mac), making sure the "Just Clear Barcode Info" box is NOT checked.
- In the Properties or Get Info window for the tape library, re-enable barcode support.
- Tapes should now show up with barcode numbers, and all tapes should be listed as unknown. Scanning media should now properly link barcodes to proper tapes.
Note that this procedure will unlink barcodes for all tapes known to Retrospect, including tapes not currently in the loader.
